It's a full day thing. Was just there last year. Some rides you have to wait in line for 15 min/ 30 to 45 min, if it's a busy day. Check their website to see how many rides will be good for your kids, but 3 hours is nothing..
My wife and I (both from the US, but she grew up in Germany) went to Legoland Deutschland a couple of years ago, and in that particular park they have a āLego Factoryā attraction, where there a little tour through how lego pieces are made and printed , and you get a souvenir brick with the park name and year printed on it, and then thereās a big Pick-A-Brick section.
You need at least two days to see everything, there are also a lot of rides. I recommend visiting on weekdays because it will less crowded. The legos are also more expensive at the Legoland than on a website (in my experience). The rooms are also really good amd Lego themed. Visited July 2023. Travelled with family.

What we dit not like was that there are by far not enough charging possibilities for electric cars. Apparantly there are only 2 (!) at the parking near LEGOLAND Germany, but zero (!) at the hotel. Come on, this is very bad when you arrive with low mileage after a 10 hour trip from The Netherlands. Legoland really has to improve this.
